The School of Civil Engineering and Architecture was founded in 1987 as the Department of Architectural Engineering of Pingyuan University, one of the earliest established engineering departments in the university. Since its establishment, the school has continuously reformed and innovated in discipline and specialty construction, adhering to the path of connotative development.

I. Teaching Staff

The school currently has 65 full-time teachers, including 9 professors, 20 associate professors, and 14 teachers with the qualification tosupervisepostgraduates. Among the teaching staff, 21 have a doctorate degree and 43 have a master degree. There are 39 double-qualified teachers, and many of them have obtained professional qualification certificates such as national first-class registered structural engineers, first-class registered architects, first-class registered constructors, first-class registered geotechnical engineers, and registered cost engineers. The school attaches great importance to the introduction of high-level talents. It has successively invited doctoral supervisors fromChinese top universities, likeTongji University, Dalian University of Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, and Tianjin Chengjian University as specially-appointed and dual-employed professors, providing talent support and guarantee for the high - quality development of the majors.

II. Teaching Resources

The school has large-scale experimental instruments such as a constant-temperature and humidity energy-saving detection system, an oblique mapping unmanned aerial vehicle, an industrial-grade 3D printer, and a laser 3D scanner. There are more than 1,700 sets of teaching and research instruments and equipment, with a total value of more than 21 million yuan. It has 11 laboratories with 31 sub-laboratories, including a building materials laboratory, an engineering survey laboratory, a geotechnical laboratory, a comprehensive laboratory for building environment and energy application engineering, a traffic engineering laboratory, a BIM innovation laboratory, a non-destructive testing laboratory, and a landscape architecture professional laboratory. It has jointly established internship bases with 19 enterprises, providing a strong guarantee for the cultivation of applied professionals.

V. Students

The school actively establishes an outcome-oriented educational concept, focusing on cultivating students' innovation awareness and innovation ability. Based on the concept of collaborative innovation, the school has carried out horizontal project cooperation with many well-known enterprises in the fields of BIM (Building Information Modeling) application, anti-radiation of steel structures, research on the performance of road modified asphalt, and prefabricated buildings, helping to cultivate students' engineering practice ability and innovation awareness. Large-scale instruments such as oblique mapping unmanned aerial vehicles and industrial-grade 3D printers are open to undergraduates. Through the integration of science and education and multi-disciplinary collaborative teaching methods, students' innovation and practice abilities are strengthened.

The school has jointly established an internship and training base with the BIM Center of the China Academy of Building Research, built a high-level industry-university-research-application cooperation platform, trained many students and enterprise employees, provided high-quality internship and training positions for students, and become a leader in this field among similar universities in Henan Province.

The school actively explores the high-end internship and employment market for graduates, guiding and escorting graduates to intern, seek jobs, and be employed in famous enterprises. The employment rate of each major has reached over 95% in the past three years. Graduates are distributed in government construction management departments, universities, research institutions, design institutes, construction, supervision companies, and engineering consulting and other related units across the country.

The school actively organizes subject-related competitions, guides students' all-round development, and constructs a multi-disciplinary collaborative teaching mode guided by competitions. Students have won many national and provincial awards in the "Internet+" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition, the National Traffic Science and Technology Competition, and various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.

The teachers of the school have strong teaching and research capabilities. They have presided over 4 first-class undergraduate courses in Henan Province, 1 online high-quality course in Henan Province, 2 undergraduate research-based courses in Henan Province, 1 model course of curriculum ideology and politics in Henan Province, 1 demonstration project of curriculum ideology and politics in vocational education and continuing education in Henan Province, 1 high-quality online open course in vocational education and continuing education in Henan Province, and 23 demonstration courses of curriculum ideology and politics in Xinxiang University. In terms of education and teaching project construction, 1 experimental teaching demonstration center for civil engineering in Henan Province, 1 excellent grassroots teaching organization in Henan Province, 1 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching project, 1 off-campus practice education base for undergraduates in Henan Province, 1 brand project of industry-education integration in Henan Province, 4 collaborative education projects under the background of new engineering of the Ministry of Education, and 16 education and teaching reform projects of Xinxiang University have been approved. In terms of textbook construction, "Manufacturing and Construction Technology of Prefabricated Concrete Building Components" has been approved for the construction of the "14th Five-Year Plan" textbook for undergraduate higher education institutions in Henan Province.

They have presided over 3 general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, 17 provincial and ministerial-level projects, won 4 provincial (ministerial)-level scientific and technological awards, 7 teaching achievement awards of higher education in Henan Province, and 43 national invention patents.
