The School of Physics and Electronic Engineering was established in 1984, with its predecessor being the Physics Department of Xinxiang Teachers College. Guided by the educational philosophy of "strengthening the foundation, emphasizing practice, focusing on abilities, and encouraging innovation", the school actively coordinates the relationship among teaching, scientific research, and discipline construction, aiming to become a high-level teaching and research-oriented institution where teaching and research promote each other, and theory and practice develop in harmony. At the same time, we are committed to building a first-class undergraduate major construction system, cultivating talents with characteristics in teacher education and new engineering construction, and providing high-quality applied professionals for local economic development.

I. Teaching Staff

The school currently has 62 full-time teachers, including 3 professors and 15 associate professors. There are 24 teachers with doctoral degrees, and "double-qualified and double-capable" teachers account for 30%. Among the full-time teachers, there is 1 person supported by the Science and Technology Innovation Talent Support Program of Henan Provincial Universities, 3 academic and technical leaders of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, 2 young backbone teachers of Henan Provincial Universities, 3 teaching pacesetters of Henan Province, and 6 part-time master's supervisors.

II. Teaching Resources

The school currently has 18 sub-laboratories, including those for mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, electromagnetism, electrical engineering, electronic technology, single-chip microcomputer, programmable control, power and electronics, electronic technology, detection technology, and communication principles. The total value of the instruments is more than 40 million yuan. Nearly 240 experimental projects can be offered, which can serve more than 6,000 students from over 30 majors in 9 departments for classroom experiments. The "Basic Physics Experiment Center" has been awarded the "Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Henan Province".

The Physics major is a "Teacher-training Major Accredited by the Ministry of Education for Higher Education Institutions", a "Provincial-level First-class Undergraduate Construction Site in Henan Province", and a "Pilot Major for Comprehensive Reform in Henan Provincial Higher Education Institutions". The Electrical Engineering and Automation major has consistently ranked first in the professional application rate of our school. Condensed Matter Physics is a key discipline in Henan Province.

V. Student Development

With improving the quality of talent cultivation as the core, the school has constructed a "full-process, diversified, and multi-level" practical teaching system. "Full-process" means that cognitive internships are offered starting from the first year of college, and practical teaching runs through all four academic years without interruption. "Diversified" means that the content of practical teaching is based on professional knowledge, and its forms combine classroom experiments, training, scientific research and innovation activities, and off-campus internships. "Multi-level" refers to the cultivation of five skill levels: basic, professional, comprehensive, innovative, and applied.

The school has jointly established an off-campus internship base in Henan Province and a postgraduate practice base for joint training in Henan Province with Xin Taihang Power Supply. In addition, it has carried out industry-university-research cooperation with many research institutes and enterprises such as Wanxin Electric and Zhongbao Electric, jointly established internship bases, and promoted the in-depth integration of education and industry.

Many students of the school have been admitted to "Double First-Class" universities such as Beihang University, Southeast University, Hunan University, East China University of Science and Technology, and Zhengzhou University. The postgraduate entrance examination rate of students ranks among the top in the school.

The school attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' professional qualities and innovation abilities through subject competitions. It actively builds competition platforms, creates characteristic student work brands, and has achieved outstanding results in subject competitions. In the past five years, students have won more than 150 national and provincial awards in high-level competitions such as the "Challenge Cup", the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Competition, and the National Undergraduate Robot Competition, with more than 500 student participants receiving awards.

VI. Scientific Research

The school has a provincial-level scientific research platform, the Henan Provincial Engineering Research Center for New Energy Energy Storage Systems, as well as four key laboratories and engineering centers in Xinxiang City. The school's teaching team mainly conducts scientific research in two directions: energy storage power technology for intelligent equipment and new energy materials and devices. The team actively serves the national "deep-sea" strategy and participates in many scientific research projects, such as the research on intelligent charging and discharging devices for silver-zinc batteries of manned submersibles. The research achievements of the porous media heat and mass transfer research team have won many provincial-level awards above, including the second prize of the Natural Science Award of Henan Province.

Students will master solid and broad basic theoretical knowledge and systematic and in-depth professional knowledge in this discipline, proficiently master one or two foreign languages, have good moral character, scientific literacy, cultural cultivation, and professional ethics, as well as innovative thinking and teamwork ability.

Graduates can engage in the design, research and development, operation management, technical consultation, system integration, etc. of electrical engineering in multiple industrial fields such as power systems, power plants, industrial enterprise electrical automation, new energy power generation and utilization, rail transit, smart grids, and electronic information, as well as in related research institutions, enterprises, and public institutions. They can also, based on the solid knowledge foundation of this major, continue their studies in domestic and foreign universities, pursue master's and doctoral degrees in related majors, further expand their academic vision and professional depth, and contribute to the technological progress and industrial upgrading in the field of electrical engineering.
